How to Be More Confident in 2017: 4 Tips to Have a Great Year

It’s a new year! Thank God! After the shit show that was 2016, most of us are seriously stoked to be coming into a new year. I know for most people, 2016 really sucked. Maybe there was something in the wind? I’m not sure.

I’m feeling optimistic about 2017, and I think you should be too. There are so many trolls on the internet and so much hate going around, but here at Building Self-Esteem, we like to encourage each other and support each other. So I wanted to offer you four tips that you can use to make 2017 so much better than 2016. Are you ready?

Try something new.

Find a new passion, a new hobby. Step outside of your comfort zone. Being a young adult is all about trying new things and finding out what we like. If you let anything hold you back last year, don’t let it this year. Be courageous. Be brave. Take that Zumba class. Go to happy hour with that cute new guy. Be bold!

Stop giving a shit about other people’s opinions.

Other people’s opinions are just that. OTHER PEOPLE’S OPINIONS. It ultimately doesn’t matter what anybody else thinks of you. You are the only person living your life. Develop a new mantra. Say it with me. “I DON’T GIVE A SHIT.”

Do more of what makes you happy.

Yes, of course we want to study hard and make all A’s. Yes, of course we want to do well at our jobs. But if you aren’t making time to do things you enjoy, you are going to get burnt out really quick. The key to being a happier you is to do more things that you like doing.

Learn to love yourself.

It sounds cheesy, but if you can stand in front of the mirror every morning and think about one thing you like about yourself, you will be amazed how much confidence it gives you. You will start to show up differently in the world. Everyone will think “wow, she is so TOGETHER.” And all you did was stand in front of the mirror thinking “you know, my eyes are nice.”

The point is 2017 can be anything you want it to be. I know I want it to be awesome. How about you?
